Today in Noms

1. White beans, potatoes, brown rice, and veggies in a lemon-spice broth. Small cheese toast (sharp cheddar on homemade sunflower-whole wheat bread).

2. Peach-blueberry cobbler with a dollop of homemade whole-milk yogurt.

3. Egg salad with green peppers, crushed fennel seeds, and a dash of cayenne. Served with toasted sunflower bread, sauteed eggplant rounds, and a side of vinegar'd cucumber.

4. Homemade lemon ice cream, mmmm. The perfect treat after a steamy walk and a cooling lap swim.

5. Some toast and bleu cheese with tea to get me through the evening's work.

WHAT I LEARNED TODAY: My mama's decision to throw leftover lemon-rice into a pot of spicy soup did incredible things to the flavor. I must look up the lemon-rice recipe to share with y'all! We had it with lemony zuchinni, white beans (garbonzos are also good) and feta a couple of days ago, a wonderful summer recipe.
